I have been at Internet World 2012 in London last week and there was a lot of talk about mobile and social. The term SoLoMo has been around for some time now.. However, with more focus on mobile and the fact that social is not the only popular activity through mobile .. I think we need to reorder the term to MoLoSo ?!! Check the stats and share your thoughts.....

Following on my last blog piece about whether or not we should change our Facebook profile to use the new Timeline interface or not (not that we had much of a choice) I have recently read about Google new interface on Google+ and even updated my own using some of the new features that seem to make it more interactive and theoretically more inviting, but is that what is wrong with the current Google+ ?

I guess it is about time … Facebook has been going about this since the F8 summit last year. I do understand that they needed to make sure the application is solid enough with the number of devices that Facebook aims to support, but from a user point of view, I must say, I don’t get it. Maybe if I have spent my life on Facebook it might seem interesting to see how a moved through the decades and what I have been interested in as time goes by, however, I find it hard to read through the Timeline of others as a way of identifying who they are.

This basically lead to what benefits does the new view bring to the main object in Facebook, the User?

I have recently read that Google is not worried about not continuing support for Flash beyond its newest Android mobile OS version nicknamed "Ice Cream Sandwich". The Flash support was a winning ticket for the Android mobile OS over its rival the iPhone.. But since Adobe is officially turning off Flash support on mobile as confirmed by an announcement from ZDNET... The question of "What is Next for Animation for mobiles or on any other site, since having a mobile friendly site is the norm, lingers into the minds of every marketeer.

It is  quite interesting to see how  the Internet changed how we socialise . From email to social networking the last decade or so brought all that and more, changing our basic and natural humanly instinct to connect in forms very few people thought possible.

By now, we have all either attended , watched, or have read about the F8 developers conference on Sep 22nd. Although not a fan of Andy Samberg trying to play Mark Zuckerberg, it was a good way to layout the foundation of what we can and should expect from Facebook. I can understand that change is going to happen, well, it is the right year for it.. But again, why the change…? Well, those promoting change will say, change is for the better. In software development, I would like to say if it not broken no need to fix it.. So what is the purpose of the change in Facebook?

I must say that for the past weeks or so since the Google + was launched, I have been receiving “Join my circle” requests from everyone. I have even added a few myself. The thing is,  what might drive us to engage in communications through Google circle if we are all on Facebook?

I am one of the people who delete web cookies, browsers cache, and make sure not to be logged into anything while I do search or online shopping. For a person working in the field of digital marketing, one would assume that I should support these technologies knowing how beneficial they are in delivering the right content to the right person.  Which I do support from that perspective, however,  I question the level of targeting currently being deployed and automated to the point of limiting what we get to see and become aware off although it is publicly available online.

I must hand it out to those in Google for coming up with the +1 and trying to push it as much as they can.... I must admit it is definitely a second strike since the buzz did not seem to get enough kick as the likes and the tweets.....

As more and more people move towards using social channels like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Buzz, and others institutes, businesses, and even local services are faced with the dilemma of should we focus on the website and let it target people on social hubs, or should we focus on the social hubs and drive traffic to the website....
