Increase Traffic to your site through back links....
The Alexa Toolbar
This is probably one of the most talked about topics online although of the basic fact that every one knows about Alexa ranking :
Is is not accurate and influenced by the usage of the Alexa Toolbar
I have followed a 10 steps guide to increase my Alexa ranking which lists :
- Install the toolbar
- Install a widget from Alexa
- Write a blog about Alexa... (you are reading it)
- Visit sites at the office after installing the alexa toolbar
- Ask friends to install the toolbar
- Post on social networks that promotes the alexa toolbar ..
among other alexa oriented activities. Well I am talking from my personal experience , when I say it does not work very well after one reaches a certain level. I mean, if your site is ranked in the millions, just follow the few steps above and within few weeks you will see the 30% drop in the ranking indicating a better position. However, after reaching the
600,000 index things will lay flat, and might even drop.
The fact about Alexa Ranking
From my experience, marketers and webmasters are still using the Alexa measurement because of the lack of similar measurements. The google ranking has always been the main and most accurate measure of a website's traffic and quality links. To keep referring to Alexa which is a very general rough estimate of how many of the site's visitors are using the Alexa toolbar. Which seems to focus currently on web developers/ tech executives, online marketing agencies and their clients who have been advised to use the tool. Comparing the Alexa toolbar to that offered by Google, MSN, and many other companies, the toolbar is not providing any benefits that would encourage novice users to install it.
So I guess the online community need to consider adapting their own measurements or asking big companies like Yahoo, and MSN to come up with an indexer that is an adequate match to what google has presented....
